How do I know if I have an old-fashioned fuse box?

It’s very easy to tell if you have an old-style fuse box. An old-style fuse box will have a series of fuses contained inside fuse carrier which you can manually remove and replace when one of them goes off. The picture on the left shows an old style fuse box.

Dual RCD Consumer unit

A dual RCD (residual current device) consumer Unit offers the ability to split load the power over two sets of circuits, RCD1 and RCD2.
The disadvantage however, is that this consumer unit will take out half of the property. Leaving you scratching your head as to which circuit is at fault! We reccomend and install the better RCBO units.

RCBO Consumer Unit

An RCBO (residual current breaker with over current) has become extremely popular as they offer the ability to separate all circuits independently. So while your freezer may stop working, everything else will continue working without interruption. Meaning you can identify the offending circuit straight away. How good is that!
